PC Pete website
PC Pete is a friend of a friend, who needed some help setting up a website for his PC home repair business. Pete’s business is aimed mainly at those for whom computer literacy does not come naturally, and the website copy needed to reflect that.
Although this project was outside my usual area of expertise, I enjoyed writing for a non-travel website and relished the challenge of crafting copy that reflected both Pete’s personality and his specific brand proposition.

About me

<span style=”font-weight: 400;”>Hi there. I’m Pete, a Microsoft-certified PC expert based in York.

<span style=”font-weight: 400;”>I’ve been fascinated by computers ever since I was eight years old, which inevitably led me into a career in IT. Over the last 15 years I’ve worked in senior roles for organisations as diverse as the NHS, the Foreign & Commonwealth Office and the Maersk shipping company. As the family techie, I’ve also found myself providing my services to an ever-growing list of bewildered uncles, confused aunts and befuddled grandparents, which was the inspiration for setting up my own business, PC Pete.

<span style=”font-weight: 400;”>My service is all about empowering people and making their lives easier, without confusing them with unnecessary jargon. Whether you need help with protecting your computer from viruses, upgrading your operating system or setting up a new PC from scratch, I offer a reliable, efficient and friendly service.

<span style=”font-weight: 400;”>Because I’m passionate about technology, I also believe in helping people to help themselves. As well as home computer repairs and IT support, I can also provide you with a simple ‘how-to’ guide so you don’t have to call someone every time something goes wrong, saving you money. And I can also provide honest, impartial advice on which broadband deal to choose or which cloud storage plan is best for your needs, so that you don’t end up paying for services you don’t need.

<span style=”font-weight: 400;”>Away from the computer screen, my biggest passion is football. I’m a huge Liverpool fan, and as a child of the 1970s I’m old enough to remember when they last had a decent team! I’m one of four brothers, so family is also very important to me, and my weekends are mostly spent with my partner, Vicky, and her 11-year-old son Aaron.
